The Coffs Harbour region is blessed with beautiful rives and waterways and the Coffs Harbour City Council had the vision to implement an excellent water supply system. However, we cannot take it for granted. Like any part of Australia we are subject to drought and so must value water for the precious resource it is. This means making sure our waterways are protected from pollution and depletion. We know that Coffs has undergone a rapid change in land use with the spread of blueberries and other intensive horticulture cropping. We know that this is already compromising our waterways. State government needs to play a far stronger role in effective management of water.

A recent report by the Ombudsman highlights problems with the Coalition government’s inappropriate management of water. You can read the report here.
